In the United States, the license registration for engineering is offered by each individual state. Once an individual receives license, he/she is considered as professional engineers (PE) who are licensed to perform certain tasks.

General Requirements to Get Civil Engineering Licensure

1.     A Four Year Professional Degree

* ABET-accredited degree or degrees

* ABET equivalent degree

 

2.     Pass the FE Exam

*Fundamental of Engineering Exam (FE)

3.     Acceptable work experience ( not less than 4 years)

4.    Pass Professional Engineering Exam


In the United States, engineers are licensed at the state level by professional licensing boards.
