The shape of the dome depends on the curve that is chosen and the direction of the axis of revolution.

The rotation of the curves about the vertical axis will give the following domes:

• A circular curve will give spherical dome
• A Right angle curve will give Conical Dome
• An elliptical curve will give Elliptical Dome

Among the domes mentioned, the most commonly used dome is spherical dome.
