We are in the era of promoting the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) considering it as a possible replacement for current-generation automobile, in order to address the issue of rising pollution, global warming, depleting natural resources, and more.
Now, what if there comes an addition to this technology where the EVs charge themselves?
Isn’t that amazing to say goodbye to service stations, charging the vehicles and having an uninterrupted ride?
Magment is an innovative magnetized concrete invented to charge the EVs while they are running.
The product is a combination of road segment with magnetized particles mixed with concrete applied over the substrate.
The product is own by a German Company named Magment and it is now considered by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Purdue University to test its viability and put into practice.
However, Magment company claims that their Magnetized Concrete Roads
Can transfer power from road to vehicle with 95% efficiency
Withstand all weather conditions
High thermal conductivity
No cost more than standard road building materials
The INDOT plans to construct a small stretch road with Magment and test their capability to charge an electric truck that requires a minimum of 2000 kilowatts.
If the trial eventually proves to be successful, the department will then build a new highway on one of the state’s public roads.
